Senior Research Fellow from the Centre of Policy Studies at Victoria University, Australia, gave a lecture at CPDRC
On August 20, 2025, Peng Xiujian, Senior Research Fellow at the Centre of Policy Studies, Victoria University, Australia, visited CPDRC and delivered a lecture entitled "An Introduction to Dynamic Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) Model and Its Application in Population Policy Analysis".
Peng introduced the basic principles and modeling process of the dynamic computable general equilibrium (CGE) model. By applying this model, she calculated the contributions of delayed retirement and increased fertility rate to the sustainability of China's pension system and long-term economic development. This model has a solid theoretical foundation, adopts a multi-level nested system to reflect the interdependence of different elements, with detailed parameter settings, can be flexibly compatible and linked with other models, and can also conduct multi-regional policy simulations.
The Centre of Policy Studies at Victoria University, Australia, is a world-leading policy research center in applying computable general equilibrium (CGE) to policy analysis. The results of model analysis have been used by many countries as a basis for formulating and implementing policies. This lecture has deepened the understanding of researchers in CPDRC on this model, and will help accelerate the application of this model in decision-making support for China's population and development in the future.
